As key players within the tourism industry, we should all take responsibility for the sustainability challenges that lie ahead of us. By working together and taking action now we can shape a more sustainable future for tourism and help create a better world for our businesses, for our partners and for our children. On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know about sustainability hotel certifications, along with some helpful tips to help improve key areas of hotel operations.

TUI Hotels & Resorts Plastic Reduction Guidelines

This updated guide builds on the great progress already made in our partner hotels. It focuses on the high volume, high impact single-use plastic items that have proven more challenging to address within day-to-day operations, where guest expectations for safety and quality must always be the top priority. The guide is organized by operational area and provides practical solutions that are presented according to a simple hierarchy of options to remove, reuse or replace. There is also guidance on responsible disposal and on strategies for success.

This guide includes a particular focus on promoting reusable solutions, rather than on simply switching from single-use plastic to an different single-use item. The broader challenge we need to address is how we can reduce all single-use items, not just plastic. This will help conserve resources and reduce waste in the long term.

TUI Green Building Guidelines

The Green Building Guidelines give recommendations on how to reduce the environmental impacts of construction and refurbishment projects and provide ideas on how to realise savings, e.g. in energy and water use. Topics such as monitoring systems, sustainability certifications and stakeholder communication are also covered. Often there are quick wins that can be implemented with little effort and still bring significant positive environmental impacts. The guidelines have been reviewed by external experts and thus include the latest methods and technologies.

The Green Building Guidelines are available to view online or as a PDF to download here in English, and here in Turkish.
